Repairing a Geometry

The Repairing option allows you to repair an imported geometry that has some default like holes, overlapping surfaces and so on. The options provide 3 tools: Topology Reconstruction (also called sewing), Topology Healing, Geometry Stitching.

Note: The Repair option is only available for the CAD importer.

To Repair a Geometry:

Prerequisites: Displaying the Resources panel is required.
  1. From the Resources panel, import a geometry.
  2. Browse to Import options > Repair.
  3. To reconstruct the organization of bodies inside a part, select Topology Reconstruction.
    1. To determine if two surfaces are neighbors or not, specify the Tolerance factor (x0.01 mm).
Note: By default, the Tolerance factor is 100.
    2. In the Merge option list, select:
      • Topology to merge together all bodies of a geometry and create/sew new bodies by sets of connected faces.

      • Keep to connect faces belonging to the same body.

      • Color to merge together all bodies of a geometry and create/sew new bodies by sets of connected faces with the same colors.

  4. To sew only visible objects, select Only visible option.
  5. To extend the existing bodies and heal the topology without deformation, select Topology Healing.
  6. To stitch bodies and edges with deformation, select Geometry Stitching then specify the Deformation tolerance factor (x0.01 mm).
Note: By default, the Deformation tolerance factor is 10.
  7. Click Import.
  8. Click OK.
