Exporting Patterns and Support

The following procedure helps you export the patterns and the support of a 3D texture in a CAD STL file (*.stl).

Note: Exporting Patterns and Support is in BETA mode for the current release.

To export the patterns and support:

Prerequisites:

You must have created a 3D Texture feature.

Make sure that the STL file import unit is set to millimeters.

  1. In the Simulation panel, right-click the 3D Texture feature, and select Options .
  2. In the Geometry tab of the Options window, define the Meshing parameters to apply to the 3D Texture.
    Defining a meshing is required to export the 3D Texture as geometry. In addition, the meshing will be used in simulation for both the patterns and the support geometries.
  3. Close the Options window.
  4. In the Simulation panel, right-click the 3D Texture feature, and select Export patterns and support.
  5. Name the file and save it as *.stl.
    The save operation can take time according to the complexity of the 3D Texture.
Once you exported the 3D texture, you can use the *.stl file to continue the manufacturing process.
