3D Texture as Geometry Overview

The following page presents you how helpful exporting 3D Texture as geometry can be.

Context

Currently the 3D Texture feature allows you to virtually replicate thousands of times a same pattern on a support geometry. Each instance of the pattern is defined by a position, an orientation and potential size variation that can be stored in a mapping file.

At some point, customers need to manufacture the result of the 3D Texture applied on the support geometry. However, the mapping file may not be enough to manufacture the result.

As a consequence, as of version 2025 R1, customers can export their 3D Texture as geometry to continue the manufacturing process.

Types of Export

According to your needs, two types of 3D Texture export are available:

Migration

As of version 2025 R1, a 3D Texture has now its own meshing parameters that can be defined. As a consequence, when opening a project containing a 3D Texture created in a version prior to 2025 R1 into 2025 R1 or subsequent version, Speos automatically applies default meshing values to the 3D Texture. Therefore, you need to verify that the meshing is correctly applied to make sure that the results are identical between the version 2025 R1 and prior version.
