Possible reasons that the solver may fail are:
Enclosure type was incorrectly selected in Surface to Surface Radiation objects.
Inter-penetration of the Surface to Surface Radiation surfaces. This can be solved by improving the mesh or modeling the radiation using contact as described in Modeling Radiation topic of the Modeling Thermal Contact section of the Mechanical APDL Contact Technology Guide.
