This template creates two systems, a Transient Thermal analysis system and a Static Structural analysis system appropriate for use when performing a Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) additive manufacturing simulation. The two systems share Engineering Data, Geometry, and Model cells, and the Solution cell in the Transient Thermal system provides temperature load data to the Setup cell in the Static Structural system.

Engineering Data is pre-populated with Ansys sample materials for additive manufacturing. Upon opening the Mechanical application, the project tree is pre-populated with the AM Process and Build Settings objects that are required for additive simulations, and the Inherent Strain option (under AM Process, Build Settings) is set to No.
