1.2. Conventions Used in Getting Started

The following typographic conventions are used in the Getting Started manual:

A numbered step tells you exactly what to do:

  1. Change the value to 0.0 and press Enter.

UNIX and DOS level commands are denoted in a fixed-width font. Never type the leading % - it indicates that the command is to be issued at a shell prompt.

% ensight_client -cm

Menu selections use "→" to indicate the selection hierarchy. For example, ToolsPlaneLine means to select Plane from the Tools menu and then select Line from the Plane cascade menu.

Tips, notes, important and caution tags provide particularly important information:

Note:  Text emphasized in this fashion is a note.



Important:  Text emphasized in this fashion is an admonition that is more significant than a note and less significant than a caution.



Caution:  Text emphasized in this fashion indicates that data loss is possible.
