Displaying Iso-Surfaces

Iso-surfaces display a surface of constant value for a specified variable.

  1. In the Results arc, click Iso-Surface.
  2. Select a variable from the Results legend list to display iso-surface results.
    • For structural simulations, display contours for quantities such as Displacement, Stress, Strain, Reaction Force, or Reaction Resultant.
    • For thermal simulations, display Temperature or Heat Flux.
    • For thermal-structural simulations, display Displacement, Reaction Force, Reaction Resultant, or Heat Flux.
    • For fluid flow simulations, display Velocity, Pressure, Temperature, or Vortices Lambda. Temperature is only available if you have added a temperature condition, and Vortices Lambda is available only in Explore.
  3. Enter Iso-Value 1 to get the magnitude of a specified variable on any surface.

In Refine you can have up to five iso-values. Use the Number slider to add more iso-values. Additional options are available:

Automatic Automatically generates iso-surfaces based on the Number of iso-values you specify. They will be evenly spaced between the minimum and maximum values for the specified variable.
Manual The specified iso-values are used to display for the selected variable.
