Defining Bolts

  1. From the ribbon in the Prepare tab, select Assign from the Bolts group.
  2. Select a hole.
    Discovery automatically highlights all faces in line with that hole. If something is selected that you do not want included, control-click to de-select.
    You can select all similar bolt holes by clicking .
    If you have separated holes that are coaxial, and you want to create bolts through those holes, click .
  3. Discovery automatically selects a bolt type from a standard library based on the hole size. The bolt type specifies the grade and the bolt dimensions as well as material properties. However, you can also select a bolt type from the dropdown menu in the right side of the HUD. Click the filter to narrow down the list of bolts.
  4. Click Accept to complete the bolt setup.
    Once a bolt is defined, you can add a Bolt Preload condition from the Simulation tab to model the bolt under pretension.
