Modifying Named Selections

After creating a named selection, you can modify it by renaming, deleting, replacing, and adding to it. You can also separate, merge, subtract, and hide or show entities.

To modify the entities in a named selection, right-click a named selection in the list and choose one of the options in the context menu. The table below describes each of the options.

Option Description
Separate Select the named selection containing multiple geometric entities that you would like to separate. Each geometric entity will be placed in its own group. The new group names are based on the parent named selection. For example, "Group" will be separated into "Group.1", "Group.2", etc.
Merge Select two or more named selections to merge. They will be merged into a single named selection, taking the name of the last named selection selected.
Add Select any set of 3D entities. You may also select a named selection in the list to add to another named selection.
Subtract Select any entity that is part of a named selection to subtract it from the named selection.
Replace Select any set of 3D entities to replace a named selection. When replacing a named selection, you can only select one item in the Named Selection list to replace it with another named selection. However, you can select multiple entities in your geometry and use them to replace a named selection.
Delete Select the named selection you would like to delete. If all the entities that comprise a named selection are removed from the design, the named selection is automatically deleted.
Rename Select the named selection to change the default name. You can also double-click to rename it.
Hide Hide entities in the selected named selection(s). Note that if the named selection contains only faces, then only faces on entities that are part of the named selection will be hidden.
Hide Others Hide other named selection to focus on entities in the selected named selection(s).
Show Show entities in previously hidden named selection(s).
