Units and Display Precision
The options selected affect how values are displayed including all input units (tree, HUD, defined variations) and all output (charts, monitors, legend, defined variations).
This section contains the following topics:
Model Units and Display Precision
Choose the units for:
Length scale - Select Standard, Small or Large.
The modeling precision for smallest sketched entities and smallest round size for standard units are given in the table below.
Entity Modeling Precision Smallest sketched line 0.0301 mm Smallest sketched radius at 90 degrees 0.02772 mm Smallest sketched radius at 180 degrees 0.015 mm Smallest sketched radius at 270 degrees 0.0115 mm Smallest circle radius 0.03 mm Smallest 3D round size 0.1 mm The table below summarizes the model size box and precision values for various model sizes.
Model Size Units Size Box Precision Large Kilometers, meters, miles, feet +500 km to -500 km 1.0e-5 m Standard Meters, Centimeters, Millimeters, feet and inches +500 m to -500 m 1.0e-8 m Small Micrometers, nanometers and mils +0.5 m to -0.5 m 1.0e-11 m Model unit system - Choose the units depending on the Length scale. Select Metric or Imperial.
Model Unit System Units Metric units Millimeters, Centimeters, Meters, Micrometers, Kilometers, and Nanometers. Imperial units Inches, Feet, Feet and Inches, Miles and Mils. Length - Select the default units used for length.
Unit System Units Small units Micrometers, Nanometers and Mils. Large units Kilometers, Meters, Miles and Feet. Angle - Select Degrees, Degrees/Minutes/Seconds, Degrees/Minutes, Radians.
Length decimal places - If you use Imperial units, you can select Decimal/Fraction to display distance measurements that are less than 1 unit.
Select Show trailing zeros option to display trailing zeros in decimal measurements.
Angle decimal places - Select this option to display angle measurements that are less than 1 unit.
Select Show trailing zeros option to display trailing zeros in decimal measurements.
Sketch Grid
Grid spacing | Enter the distance you want between the smallest grid lines. |
Grid per block | Enter the number of smaller grid lines between larger, heavier grid lines. |
Reset to Defaults | Remove user-defined settings and reset to default values. |
Simulation Units and Display Precision
Simulation unit system | Select Metric or Imperial. Select Show inputs with non-default inputs as entered to turn off display units and show only input values. |
Length | Select the default units used for length. Metric units include Millimeters (default), and Meters. Imperial units include Inches, and Feet. |
Force | Select the default units used for force. |
Mass | Select the default units used for mass. |
Stress and pressure | Select the default units used for stress and pressure. |
Temperature | Select the default units used for temperature. |
Significant digits displayed | Select the number of significant digits to be displayed. |
Any changes to modeling units from the status bar or Settings> Units and Display Precision do not affect these units.
