Use Discovery color tones
when importing |
Select this option to use the Discovery color scheme for layers. This option is enabled by default to avoid fully
saturated colors, on which highlighting is less visible. Faces of imported
data will retain their original color tones if this option is turned
off. |
Automatically save imported documents |
Select this option to immediately save an opened non-Discovery file to a dsco file. If you do not
select this option, then opened files are not saved until you save the
design. |
Improve imported data |
Select this option to improve a file when it is opened or inserted. You
can choose for Discovery to:
- Simplify geometry: simplifes complex faces and
curves into planes, cones, cylinders, etc.,
- Remove splits: removes split faces on
import,
- Heal bodies and faces: attempts to clean minor
geometric irregularities on import,
- Stitch nearby surfaces together: stitches
surfaces on import. Improve effectiveness with Find
coincident surfaces and specifying
Tolerance.
De-selecting this option imports the file without improvements so the
file appears more quickly, but you may have to perform the improvements
manually. |
Check geometry |
Select this option to check the project geometry. |
Import hidden components and geometry |
Select this option to open or insert hidden components within CATIA v5,
Parasolid, Creo Parametric, SOLIDWORKS, and SketchUp files, and turn off
their visibility in the model tree. |
Use lightweight |
Select this option to use lightweight geometry import, which uses less
memory and allows for faster import times. Lightweight file formats are
limited to STEP, CATIA, IGES, SOLIDWORKS, Solid Edge, Creo, NX, Inventor
and Rhino. An assembly containing multiple bodies can be a mix of
lightweight and heavyweight. You can convert a lightweight body to
heavyweight by right-clicking the body in the tree or in the design
window and selecting Convert to Heavyweight from
the context menu.
Most modeling tools will not work on lightweight bodies. Simulation is
only available in the explore stage and will only work on single bodies.
For full simulation capabilities included bodies must be converted to
heavyweight.
The Use lightweight option in Discovery is supported only for reader imports.
This differs from SpaceClaim, which supports lightweight geometry import
for both reader import and plug-in import.
