Chapter 7: Encrypting Command Input and Other Data

Mechanical APDL provides the ability to encrypt the following information:

  • Command Input. Encrypting command input makes the source unreadable. One example usage is encrypting a macro file so that only individuals who know the encryption key can use it. To run the encrypted input, the user must set the global encryption key in Mechanical APDL.

  • Material Data. Encrypting material data blocks the ability to resume the database file containing those materials without entering the encryption keys. Depending on whether you want others to have full or partial access to the material data, you can limit access to the materials via one-level or two-level encryption.

Mechanical APDL uses the OpenSSL cryptography library and the AES algorithm to encrypt and decrypt information.
