Chapter 1: Additive Calibration - Quick Start

To maximize the effectiveness of your Ansys Additive software, we highly recommend conducting a distortion calibration process to customize your simulation for your specific manufacturing conditions. This is important because actual distortion values of as-built parts can vary based on the machine and material combinations used. This variation is especially notable due to the differences among various laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) machine manufacturers and powder material suppliers.

The Quick Start Guide shown below summarizes the process for performing an Assumed Strain simulation type using either Linear Elastic or J2 Plasticity stress mode. Refer to the remainder of this Additive Calibration Guide for further details and for information on calibrations with advanced simulation types.
