Manufacturing Parameters

This page describes the parameters to create a light guide that can be manufactured.

Note: Prism parameters vary depending on the operation selected.
Top/ Bottom Prism Milling

A filet is applied on the top and/or bottom edge of the prisms when the Milling activated.

Milling is useful to take into account the size of the tool used to shape the surface during the manufacturing.

If the milling is not computed on the prisms, it might be due to an incorrect design. Verify the construction of the light guide.

Drafting

The Drafting allows you to define an angle and a demolding axis to ensure a safe removal of the light guide from the mold while taking into account the manufacturing constraints.

The angle corresponds to the minimum angle the construction algorithm will apply. That means, the algorithm can apply a value higher than the angle defined for a correct demolding on certain prisms if necessary. However the value could slightly impact the photometry. Therefore, we recommend you to check the drafting to avoid unexpected results.
