STL Files Import

This page describes the different options available to import mesh (*.stl) files in Speos and the specificities of each of them. Once imported, mesh (*.stl) files can be selected for Speos simulation as any other CAD geometry.

Three import options are available to import STL files in Speos. However, we recommend choosing between only two of these options.

To access these options, click File > Speos options > File Options > STL.

• Connected faceted body is the default and recommended option to use. It allows you to import the mesh as a closed faceted body.

  Note: With this option, you cannot visualize the Speos meshing as the meshing used for simulation is directly inherited from the geometry itself.

• Solid/surface body can be used if the first import option failed to work. This option allows you to import the mesh as a surface body. The surface body then must be converted into a closed faceted surface by using the Convert option.
