Optical Part Design Overview

Optical Part Design allows you to create optical components and lighting systems such as optical lenses, total internal reflection lenses, light guides etc.

Speos Optical Part Design provides modeling capabilities dedicated to optical and lighting systems design mainly for automotive industry.

A wide variety of optical parts and components such as lenses, surfaces or reflectors are available in Speos to cover different needs and configurations.

Once modeled, the optical components can be integrated in an optical system and be tested out through simulation.

Optical Components

  • The Parabolic Surface is a collimating surface, that is a surface that allows a perfectly specular, mirror-like reflection of rays.
  • The TIR (Total Internal Reflection) lens is a collimating optical component, highly efficient to capture and redirect light emitted from a light source.
  • The Light Guide is a thin pipe made of transparent material. Light Guides are highly efficient in transmitting light and have various possible applications (interior lighting, accent lighting etc.)
  • The Optical Lens allows you to create pillow, prismatic, pyramidal or reflex reflectors lenses. Optical lenses are key components of lighting systems are often used to design rear signal lenses.
  • The Optical Surface allows you to generate rectangular, circular or faceted reflectors.
  • The Projection Lens allows you to create optical lenses used for automotive projector modules.
  • The Poly Ellipsoidal Reflector is a reflector that is mainly used in automotive projector modules to produce spread/ driving beams.
  • The Freeform Lens allows you to create a collimating lens from any freeform surface.
  • The Micro Optical Stripes helps you create a feasible light guide by defining a Tool Bit Shape used for processing the Light Guide mold.

In Speos

You can manage all the characteristics of the optical component: its source, focal, shape, size and distribution.

Warning: Opening an Optical Part Design project in two different Speos versions may present different results.
