Configuring the Warping

The following procedure allows you to specify if HUD Optical Analysis (HOA) must compute the warping or not, or import a warping.

To configure a warping:

  1. In the Generation section, select the Warping mode:
    • Disable if you do not want HOA to compute any warping. In this case, HOA analyzes the system with a rectangular grid on the PGU defined in the PGU tab.
Note: Do not use the Disable mode when using the Magnification or the Overview tests.
    • Import if you want to use an imported warping file.
Note: For more information on the Warping file, refer to Warping File.
    • Build if you want HOA to compute the warping without exporting it, and define the Horizontal sampling and Vertical sampling of the warping used by HOA and sent to the plugins.
    • Build & Export if you want HOA to compute the warping and export it into a warping file, and define the Horizontal sampling and Vertical sampling of the warping used by HOA and the warping file.
  2. If you set the Multieyebox to True in the Eyebox definition, in the Tilt section select the Tilt mode:
    • Predefined Mirror Tilt to generate a Warping file containing the Warping of each driver defined in the Configurations of the Eyebox section.
    • Step Mirror Tilt to generate a Warping file containing the Warping of each driver defined by rotation of the mirror.
      1. Define the angular range [Shorter Driver Tilt ; Taller Driver Tilt] of the rotating mirror to calcultate each Eyebox position
      2. Define the Tilt Sampling.
Note: The rotating mirror is the mirror for which the multiconfiguration is activated in the Mirrors tab. The 0° corresponds to the initial position of the mirror. The rotation axis used is the Tilt Rotation Axis defined in the Mirrors tab.
    • Free Mirror Tilt to generate a Warping file containing the Warping of each driver defined by their Eyebox position.
      1. Define the offset range [Shorter Driver Tilt ; Taller Driver Tilt] of the Eyebox positions to calculate each Mirror rotation.
      2. Define the Tilt Sampling.
Note: The 0mm corresponds to the center of the Central Eyebox. The Translation axis used is the Position Direction axis defined in the Eyebox.
  3. In the Image section, If you want to use a warping Algorithm:
    1. Select Nearest for a low quality warping, or Bilinear for a high quality warping.
    2. Select the Algorithm file.
Note: The Algorithm file is an input image file to be pre-distorted by a provided warping algorithm or your own created warping algorithm thanks to the Image Warping APIs.
Note: HOA generates one image per warping configuration in the tree.
