Manufacturing

The Manufacturing section allows you to define the degree of polynomial equation used to design the mirrors.

Manufacturing allows you to define the degree of polynomial equation used to design the mirrors.

The degrees influence the shape that the mirror takes. At the end of each computation, a surface export.txt file is generated.

The file contains the coefficients of the extended polynomial equation of the freeform mirror(s) shape created by HUD Optical Design. The file can then be shared with the manufacturers to produce the mirrors.

Note: The manufacturing degree can be set between 1 and 20. The default value is 6. The HOD system computation time depends on the order set here and might take a while, especially when setting high manufacturing degrees.
Note: As the file exports the equation's coefficient, the exported surfaces are unbounded.
