License Utility
License Utility

This version of OpticStudio only works with Ansys licenses. If you are trying to access a Zemax license (those licenses in the format L1XXXXX or any USB license), you will need to install the Zemax version of OpticStudio.
Ansys Licensing Client To configure and enable a license, click on "Ansys Licensing Client". Enter the machine name of the license server or servers into the Server field. If you are unsure of the server name or port, contact the license administrator listed in your Ansys portal account. Once you have added the server name and / or port, click Ok and restart OpticStudio to attempt to use it.
Licensing Help For additional information or help, open the "Licensing Help" button in the Ansys License Utility. This will take you to the Ansys support website with additional information.
Register for Technical Support By clicking this button, the user is forwarded to the "Getting Started with Ansys Customer Support Space" page.
Contact Technical Support By clicking this button, the user is forwarded to the "Ansys Customer Support Space Registration Form".
View Logs By clicking this button, the user is forwarded to a windows explorer of the LicenseSettingUtility logs.
Help choosing an edition By clicking the link, the user has access to a comprehensive list (as a PDF file) of all features and tools available in Enterprise, Premium and Pro editions. It can be used as a guide to users in selecting the most suitable edition based on their specific design needs.
Select Edition The user can select whether to use a Pro, Premium or Enterprise edition from the drop-down menu. Enterprise edition is selected by default. Once done, click OK and restart OpticStudio to access the selected edition.
Allow usage of lower-tier editions if the selected edition is unavailable If the checkbox is checked, Ansys License Utility automatically checks availability of lower-tier editions and launches the first available lower-tier edition. Users will be notified by a warning message that their initially selected edition is not available and an alternative lower-tier edition has been activated. An example warning message is shown below.
If the checkbox is unchecked, the licensing algorithm only checks availability of user-selected edition and activates it if it is available. In case the selected edition is unavailable, users will be notified by an error message. An example error message is shown below.
In this case, users need to manually change their preferred edition from the drop-down menu to get access to other edition types.
Ask for edition selection every time OpticStudio launches If the checkbox is checked, the Ansys License Utility window appears at each launch. This will be helpful for users who need to frequently switch between editions. If unchecked, the Ansys License Utility window only appears at the first launch. This checkbox is unchecked by default.
