Using ModelCenter
The process of using ModelCenter starts with wrapping an analysis program on ModelCenter Remote Execution (MCRE). An analysis program can be an in-house FORTRAN code that uses input and output files, a commercial finite element program, or even a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
MCRE is Java-based and runs on many platforms, including Windows and Unix-based systems. This allows an analysis program to be wrapped and run on its native platform without modification. The result is a set of wrapped analysis programs accessible from other networked computers using ModelCenter.
An analysis program wrapped on MCRE is referred to as a component in ModelCenter. A workflow is a set of integrated components. In addition to MCRE, there are other ways to create components, such as script components and common components.
