Exporting data

The data values from one or more material records can be exported in formats that can be ingested by supported software packages.

The following CAD/CAE software packages are currently supported:

Not all record data is exported - the software package, model and data table determine which properties are included. Additional properties may also be exported that are not consumed by a particular solver.

If an exported record contains functional series data relevant to the selected model, for example stress-strain curves, this is included when the record is exported.

Typically, all available series will be exported, but some combinations of model and software package will export a single series or point.

The Project parameter values relevant to the attribute determine which series or point is exported. To change the parameters, click the Parameters link underneath the attribute name in the datasheet.

Warning: If the parameters values have not been set to appropriate values, data may be missing from the exported file, or the values may not be what you expect.
  1. Right-click a record name, click Export To and select the CAD/CAE software package you want to export the data to.
Records can be exported from the right-click menu wherever they appear, including directly from the datasheet, the Browse Tree, the Results list, and the chart window. Multiple records can be selected at the same time.
  2. If required, edit the settings:
    • Model - the model appropriate for your CAD/CAE package.
    • Unit - the unit system to use with the property values.
    • Scaling factor - scale the exported modulus and strength values to account for performance differences between test data and real components. Default value is 1 (no scaling).
    • Poisson's ratio - this value is populated using information on the record datasheet, if available, or you can enter a custom value.
    • Failure criterion - the appropriate failure criteria for your analysis.
  3. Click either Export to file or Export to clipboard.
