Sheet Steels

Updates to the Sheet Steels database.

Crashworthiness simulations
This release introduces comprehensive support for advanced crashworthiness simulations, featuring:
  • Rate-dependent plasticity data covering strain rates from 0.0001/s to 1000/s.
  • Stress-state-dependent damage modeling including GISSMO damage model parameters.
These enhancements apply to nine automotive-grade sheet steels, comprising:
  • High-strength low alloy (HSLA) steels
  • Complex-phase (CP) steels
  • Dual-phase (DP) steels

All grades are manufactured and supplied by voestalpine GmbH and are widely used across industries including automotive, construction, energy, rail, and consumer goods.

Simulation-ready data access
  • Design Data Table - Contains calibrated material data for the 9 materials, ready for export to LS-DYNA material cards. Calibration has been performed by DYNAmore Material Competence Center.
    • MAT_24 can be exported with rate-dependent flow curves.
    • MAT_ADD_DAMAGE_GISSMO can be included to represent stress-state dependent damage using the GISSMO model.
  • Test Data Table - Hosts the underlying experimental data, including three new test types specifically supporting GISSMO calibration:
    • Notched tensile tests
    • Notched shear (0 and 45 degrees) tests
    • Punch tests
  • Data linkage and consistency:
    • Each record in the Design Data table is linked to its corresponding test data in the Test Data table.
    • Folder and record formats in the Test Data table have been updated to align with the Design Data table, ensuring consistency and ease of navigation.
New Ansys Forming exporter

This release adds the capability to export sheet metal (LSM) materials with forming curve data to JSON format material cards that can be imported into Ansys Forming, the dedicated simulation solution for stamping and sheet metal forming.
