Windchill and Creo client settings

After installing MI Materials Gateway, the following settings must be configured on Windchill clients, and on Creo clients to enable interoperability with Windchill.

  1. To allow MI Materials Gateway to handle Bills of Materials correctly, ensure that the *.migtwwcversion file extension on the Windchill client is associated with the MI Materials Gateway application.
    Windchill version File extension
    Windchill 12.1 .migtwwc121
    Windchill 13 .migtwwc130
    Windchill 13.1 .migtwwc131
Note: The installer for MI Materials Gateway for Windchill should perform this file extension association automatically, unless there is a pre-existing association for that file extension.
  2. Add the custom Granta Assignments tab to the part visualization.
    1. Open any WTPart in Windchill.
    2. Add a new tab, and name it Granta Assignments.
    3. With the Granta Assignments tab in focus, right-click and select Hide on Subtype.
      This prevent Materials from showing.
    4. Click Customize, select Granta Assignment Links, and then check the option Granta Assignments.
  3. Similarly, the Material, Process, Surface Treatment and Color objects should have a new Parts Referencing tab to show related Parts.
    1. Open a Granta Material object.
    2. Add a new tab, and rename it ‘Parts Referencing’.
    3. Click Customize, select Granta Assignment Links, and then check the option Parts Referencing Granta Assignment.
    4. Repeat for the Process, Surface Treatment and Color objects, if these assignment types are enabled.
These additional tabs allow easy navigation between parts and their Granta materials or other assignments.
  4. In the MI Materials Gateway settings on the Windchill client, ensure that URL of the Windchill server has been entered.
Note: You are prompted to add the details of the Windchill server when installing MI Materials Gateway, but you can update the information from the application user settings:
    1. Open MI Materials Gateway.
    2. In the Host connection settings section of the Settings page in Gateway, enter the URL of the Windchill server in the format https://your.windchill.host(:port)/Windchill
    3. Enter a valid Windchill username and password to connect the Gateway to the Windchill server.
  5. On the Creo client, add a custom property to the Creo configuration to enable volume and surface area values to be added to Windchill parts from the CAD design.
    1. Open the config.pro file:

      For example

      C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo version\Common Files\text\config.pro
    2. Add the following line:
      mass_property_calculate automatic
