Setting the display notation for numerical data

Choose whether to display large numbers in standard scientific notation, using exponents that are multiples of three, or matching the exponents of range values.

On the Numbers tab:

  1. Select a Display Notation using the radio buttons.
    • Scientific Notation displays numbers in standard form (e.g. 2.3 × 10-7)
    • Engineering Notation displays numbers in standard form, using exponents that are multiples of 3 (e.g. 0.23 × 10-6)
    • Matched Engineering Notation displays numbers in engineering notation, using the same exponent for the minimum and maximum values in a range (e.g. 0.23 × 10-6 - 1100 × 10-6)
  2. Click Apply to preview the change, or OK to apply and save it.
Note: This setting does not apply in the following cases:
    • Constants and Parameters are always displayed in Scientific Notation.
    • Matched Engineering Notation is only applied to datasheets - Engineering Notation is used for selection results when this option is selected.
