Using Granta MI materials data in Ansys Workbench
When you import a material to Ansys Workbench, it is created as a material object in the Engineering Data component of the Granta MI component system, where it can be shared with other systems in Ansys Workbench.
The Engineering Data component is updated automatically after each import.
Warning: Resetting the Granta MI component system will cause all previously
imported materials to be deleted from the Engineering Data component, and from any
downstream shared Engineering Data components.
After a material has been imported, you can view its properties from within Ansys Workbench by editing the Engineering Data component.
Tip: Alternatively, you can view, delete, or update your imported Granta MI
materials in MI Materials Gateway. For details, see View and manage imported material cards.
Note:
In Ansys Workbench 2022 R2 or earlier, if you create a duplicate of an imported
material in the Engineering Data component by editing it in Ansys Workbench, it will
not be possible for MI Materials Gateway to distinguish between the duplicate
material cards. If you subsequently try to update, delete, or re-import either of
the duplicates using the MI Materials Gateway window, MI Materials Gateway will
update the first material object that it finds in Engineering Data, which may not be
the anticipated behavior.
Therefore, you should take care when duplicating imported materials, particularly if these may need to be updated or deleted in future.
