When you are viewing an assembly or product structure in MI Materials Gateway for
Creo, NX, Teamcenter, or Windchill, you can export details of the Bill of Materials and its
current data assignments as a Bill of Materials (BoM) file, in either
XML or CSV format.
XML BoM files can be used to transfer material assignments from a CAD application to
a CAE application via MI Materials Gateway. They can also be opened in MI BoM
Analyzer for analysis and reporting.
You can export assignments for any component in the BoM hierarchy. If you right-click a
component (root assembly, sub-assembly, part, or body), the exported file includes
that component and all items below it.
Note:
- In Creo, this feature is only available when you are viewing a hierarchical
Bill of Materials - that is, when you have opened MI Materials Gateway from
the main toolbar in Creo Parametric. See Creo Parametric.
- In NX, this feature is only available when you are working in BoM mode. See
NX.
- In Teamcenter and Windchill, you can also export the results of a 'Where
Used' search.
For each assignment, the exported file includes a permanent reference to the source
record in your Granta MI database. For more information about the data that is
included in each file format, see Supported formats for file export.
To export assignments as a file
-
In the Assignments panel, right-click the component you want to export. This
can be the root assembly, a sub-assembly, part, or body.
-
Select Export to file.
Tip:
- In MI Materials Gateway for Creo, if you don't see Export
to file in the menu, it may be because you have opened
Gateway by right-clicking in the Creo Parametric part model. To
enable the export feature, click MI Materials
Gateway in the Creo Parametric toolbar. This loads the
full assembly into the Assignments panel. Then, right-click the part
or sub-assembly you want to export.
- In MI Materials Gateway for NX, if you don't see Export
to file in the menu, you may be in List mode. To switch
to BoM mode, click MI Materials Gateway in
the NX toolbar.
- Specify the filename and location.
-
In the Save as type list, choose the type of file you
want.
- To export an XML file, select Bill of Materials
23/01.
- To export a CSV file, select CSV (Comma
delimited).
