Copy URL to Clipboard
Click Admin > General > Utilities > Copy URL to clipboard to generate an MI Viewer URL that includes specific application, database, and search preferences, for sharing with application users, and/or including in database or application home pages.
Before you create the URL, ensure that your MI Viewer environment is suitably configured.
Step 1: Set up the required environment for users who will use this URL
- In the Contents pane, select a Profile or database and Subset.
- If required, choose the Layout you want to use for each table.
- If required, click Settings and set any specific database, application, or search options.
- Select Read Mode or Edit Mode.
Step 2: Generate the URL
- On the MI Viewer toolbar, click Admin.
- On the General tab, under Utilities, click Copy URL to Clipboard.
- Select which of your current settings you want to specify in the URL. The URL at the
top of the page changes as you select and deselect options:
- Include your current User Preferences adds your current settings for Application and Search options, Show empty items, and Read mode/Edit mode. When someone other than you uses the generated URL, these settings will override their current settings.
- Include your Database Preferences adds your current Subset, Layout, and Unit System database settings as URL parameters. When someone other than you uses the generated URL, these settings will override their current settings.
- Link to current search adds the search criteria from your most recent search query to the URL. Clicking the URL will open MI Viewer on the Advanced search page with the saved search criteria pre-loaded, and the search ready to run.
- Run the search after loading adds your most recently-performed search to the URL. Clicking the URL will open MI Viewer, run the search, and display the results.
- Click Copy to Clipboard.
Note: links that are specific to the database with which they were
made include the database key in the URL, for example,
index.aspx?dbKey=metals_v6.2. If the database key is subsequently
changed, links to the database will no longer work unless they are updated to use the
new key.
