Sharing a custom search

You can share the URL of a saved custom search with other users.

  1. Navigate to the Custom Searches application to view a list of your saved custom searches.
  2. Click the Actions menu of the custom search you want to share, then click Copy link. The link will be copied to your clipboard.

  3. Share this URL with other Granta MI users.

The search will open in MI Explore.

Note: Shared custom searches can be modified by other users without affecting the original custom search. They can also be saved as a new custom search by clicking Save as.
Warning: When you share a custom search with another user, their search results may differ from yours. This could be due to any of the following reasons:
  • Data changes - including the addition or removal of databases, tables, folders, and records, as well as changes to data values.
  • Database schema changes - such as the removal of Attributes that are being used as search criteria.
  • Access control - Search results will only ever include records that you are permitted to see. Not all users may have the same privileges in access-controlled databases.
  • Version control - In version-controlled tables, if data used to define the criteria is present in Unreleased records, criteria that are valid when running the search in Edit Mode will not be valid when running it in Read Mode (where Unreleased records are hidden).
  • Profiles - In MI Materials Gateway, search results are filtered by your current profile.
