Creating a custom search

Follow these steps to start a new custom search.

  1. Click Create a new Custom Search to start a new search.
  2. Optional: If prompted, select the data view.
    The data view defines the database and table that will be searched.
  3. Enter any search terms.
  4. To restrict your search to records in specific Favorites lists or folders, use the controls below the Search box:

    Favorites list Choose one or more Favorites Lists to restrict your search to the records in the selected lists.
    Note: If you select multiple lists you will find results in any of the lists that you select.
    Tree Use the database tree filter to restrict your search to selected records and folders.
  5. To add search criteria, enter a material property name, and then specify the required value or range.
    Tip: You can organize property filters into groups. Click Add Group, and add properties to your group by typing the property name in the search box. You can rename, reorder, and delete groups using the filter panel controls.
Your search will appear in the MI Custom Searches list, and will include your search criteria and your current data view settings.
