Troubleshooting host material attribute mapping

If host material attribute mappings aren't working as expected, then the Gateway log file may give more information. Some problems that may be encountered while configuring host material attribute mapping are shown in the table below.

Note: The same applies to process, surface treatment or color objects, if configured.
Configuration problem Effects
The Standard Name specified in the host material attribute mapping does not exist on the MI server

The host material attribute is not created, or (if it already exists on the material) is not updated.

A message will be written to the error log.

The Standard Name exists on the MI server, but:
  • is not mapped to any of the MI attributes on the record being assigned

  • is mapped to an MI attribute that has no data value on the record being assigned

  • is mapped to an MI attribute that is marked "not applicable" on the record being assigned

The host material attribute will be created on the material, but will be empty.

Note that in these cases, an error message is not written to the error log.

A host material attribute mapping has been configured to write to a Windchill attribute that is not modifiable. The material object in Windchill is created successfully, but cannot be revised (e.g., when the material is updated in a version-controlled Granta MI database, or when the material is re-assigned)
