Database status

Go to Admin > Databases to view information about the databases in your MI system.

For each available database, the following information is shown. Click Set (at the bottom of the list) to apply any changes.

Column Description
Locked? Indicates whether the database is currently locked. A locked database cannot be accessed or modified by non-administrative users. To lock/unlock a database, select the check box.
Key The database key (dbkey)
Name The database name
Latest Revision The database revision ID. This allows you to see easily which version of a database is currently loaded.
Last Modified (UTC) The last time the database was modified or updated. This can be useful for identifying latest versions of databases under development, and test databases. The time shown here is in UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) format.
Read-only? Indicates whether the data in the database can be edited.
Status The current load status of the database, one of:
  • OK – The database is configured and cached successfully.
  • Failed to load – The database is configured but failed to cache.
  • Unloading – The database is currently being removed.
  • Unloaded – The database is not configured/has been removed.
  • Must Upgrade – The schema version of the database is older than that expected by the software.
  • Wrong Schema – The schema version of the database is newer than that expected by the software.
  • Reload Required – The database must be reloaded from SQL Server again. One possible cause of this could be that the database revision in SQL Server no longer corresponds with the database revision in Granta MI. You can right-click the list entry and click Reload on the shortcut menu to reload the database into Granta MI again.
Index in Sync Search index synchronization status.
  • A tick (check) means that the database and the search index are synchronized.
  • A cross means that the search index is not synchronized with the database, and the index must be rebuilt. To rebuild the search index, open the MI Server Manager tool and reload the database. See the Help for MI Server Manager for index sync error troubleshooting advice.
When the database search index is not in sync, MI Viewer Admin users will see notifications in a number of different places, see below. To troubleshoot database index sync errors, use the MI Server Manager tool.
Details Information about any database load errors. This column will normally be empty.
