Upgrade workflow

Upgrading a Granta MI Pro installation involves the following tasks.

1. The server software components must be upgraded.
2. All Granta MI Pro databases must have their schema upgraded to make them compatible with the newly-upgraded software.
3. Your existing MI Pro Materials Data database should be updated with the latest data from Ansys. Any in-house data that may have been added to the database is preserved.
4. Any new or updated Ansys reference databases included in the latest release must be added to your system, and any existing reference databases which are superseded by newer versions should be removed from your system.
5. All MI Materials Gateway clients must be upgraded. This is covered in the separate installation document Granta MI Materials Gateway Installation Guide for MI Pro.

In an Interactive upgrade: you will need to manually carry all of these upgrade tasks.

In an Automated upgrade, a pre-configured script performs steps 1 though 3 for you, and then you will need to carry out Steps 4 and 5.
