Automated installation

In an Automated Granta MI Pro installation, a pre-configured script is used to provide answers to most of the questions asked during an interactive installation. All required pre- and post-install configuration tasks on the MI Pro application server are completed for you.

Note: Read this section if you are using the Automated installation method. Skip to Interactive installation for Interactive install instructions.

The only information you need to specify at the start of an automated installation is:

  • The location of your Ansys license server machine.
  • The username of at least one person who will be added to the Admin user role in your Granta MI Pro system.
  • Your deployment preference for the MI Pro databases, one of:
    • Install the databases on an existing Microsoft SQL Server instance or Azure SQL Database, or
    • Install the databases in a local Microsoft SQL Server instance on the MI Pro application server. SQL Server Express will be installed if it is not already installed.
Note: An automated install is not fully silent. Status dialogs appear during the installation process, but you do not need to interact with them.
