Analysis Options Dialog Box

To perform analysis on an object according to specified features and tolerance values:

  1. Select the object you want to analyze, and click Modeler > Model Analysis > Analyze Objects.
  2. This displays the Analysis Options dialog box, with the Analysis Options tab selected. Selecting Modeler > Model Analysis > Heal also displays this dialog box. If during Modeler > Import... you select Heal Imported Objects and Manual, you also see this dialog box.

  3. If desired, check the Perform Entity Check Errors check box.
  4. This enables the Check Level menu. This enables the Check Level menu. The setting can be Basic, Strict, or Comprehensive:

    • Basic – Only severe problems that are expected to cause missing facets on faces and/or preclude any kind of modeling will be regarded as errors. Errors include corrupt data structures or identifiers, missing geometry for faces, edges, or vertices in the model.
    • Note: Basic checks do not indicate a completely valid model for geometric modeling, but rather the model is in a reasonable state to pursue meshing of the model. Users should carefully review mesh on parts where warnings were detected with the Basic level.
    • Strict – Treats almost all geometry/topology issues as errors. In addition to the Basic errors, it will find faces that have serious topological or geometric errors at the face, edge, or vertex level that do not facet.
    • Comprehensive: In addition to the Basic and Strict checks, it also looks for face-face intersections.
Note: Customers who need to perform geometric modeling on imported objects or to run geometric parametric studies involving such objects are urged to use the Strict level and resolve all errors to make sure that geometric operators do not fail unexpectedly.
  5. If desired, click the check boxes to enable and set the Detect Feature settings:
    • Detect Holes, and specify the Maximum Radius.
    • Detect Chamfers, and specify the Maximum Width.
    • Detect Blends, and specify the Maximum Radius.
  6. If desired set the Detect Small Entities features and tolerance values.
    • Small Edges, length less than
    • Small Faces, area less than
    • Sliver Faces, which enables:

      • Object Bounding Box Scale Factor
      • Sliver Edge Width
  7. Click the Properties tab to see a listing of the geometric properties of the selected object.
  8. Clicking OK in this dialog box displays the Model Analysis dialog box, which contains the results of the analysis.
