Fans in Series

Fans can be arranged in series (see Figure 1). There are two major advantages of placing several small fans in series rather than using a single large fan to achieve a given flow rate:

• Fans placed in series can be made active and inactive individually, so you can create different air flow patterns.

• Fans placed in series can direct air flows into localized streams.
