DXF AutoCAD

Microwave printed layouts may be exported in DXF AutoCAD format for efficient importing into other planar Microwave analysis software. Strip line, micro strip and suspended substrates schematics have an "Export" selection in the tool bar. Select the "DXF AutoCAD" entry to export in a DXF formatted file.

Exported Features

DXF format files only save the layout shapes and VIAs. All other features must be manually added in the other analysis software. These features include: ideal elements, ports, substrate dimensions, conductor material definition, and substrate material definition.

DXF Shapes and VIAs

DXF defines layout shape geometry and positions in a specific layer. DXF VIAs are saved in a different layer. When importing into the other software, it may be necessary to manually define which substrate layer the shapes go in, and which layers are connected by the VIAs. See the other software Help documentation for specific DXF VIA importing instructions.

Geometry Dimension Units

Important: DXF does not save units information. The standard units provided by FilterSolutions are meters, feet, inches, and mils. The units in which the DXF file was exported must be manually entered into the importing software.

Reference Planes and BoxBoundaries

DXF does not save the reference plane information or box boundary information.  DXF cannot save the designer's reference planes, so if they are needed, they must be recreated in the importing software. If long attachments are needed, they must also be created in the importing software.
