Layout Editor Options: Object Panel
Set the following options from the Design Settings window by navigating to Tools> Options> General Options. From the options tree, expand Layout Editor and select Object.
Changes to global options only affect new layout designs (i.e., navigating to Tools > Options > General Options to open the global Options window, and choosing options from the Layout Editor tab) . To configure options for existing designs, navigate to the Design Options window (i.e., from Layout, select Settings). Then choose options on the associated tabs, and click OK to save changes. All changes made in the Design Options window affect only the active design).
Drawing
- Draw connection points — when selected, enables the display of pin symbols in the layout. Unselected by default.
- Label vertices on selected polygons and lines — when selected, enables the display of labels (Pt_0, Pt_1, etc.) on vertices of selected polygons and lines in the layout. Unselected by default.
- Color by net — color geometry by net rather than layer. Colors are assigned in the net list window.
- Display package graphics — displays the outlines of the 3D component packages in use.
Symbol
- Auto scale — use the check box to toggle whether to auto scale the axis.
- Scale factor — scale factor for symbol footprints placed in the layout. Default is 0.1.
Rectangle description style
- Specifies the method for describing rectangles. Default is to use Two points. Alternative method uses Center /width /height.
Measurement distances
- Controls whether measurement displays in layout include a Label with units, and also how many Significant digits are displayed.
Vias
- Suppress non-functional internal pads — when
this option is enabled, padstack pads are affected in the following ways:
- Top/Bottom pads always draw
- Pads connected to traces on the same net appears
- Pads intersecting fill material draws
- Pads not connected to fill or to traces on the same net are suppressed; they are draw and are not modeled
- From the drop-down menu, select one of the following:
- Render antipad for center point intersection — when this option is selected, antipads are only rendered if the via center falls within fill material from another net. A via placed outside of a fill region still generates a clearance, even if the antipad would otherwise extend into nearby fill regions.
Antipad always enabled — when this option is selected, antipads are always rendered for all vias, regardless of their placement or surrounding fill material. This ensures that a clearance is created in all cases where a via is present.
Render antipad for pad intersection — when this option is selected, antipads are only rendered when the via’s pad intersects with fill material from another net. If the via’s pad does not make contact with another net’s fill region, no antipad is generated.
Other
- Auto place components in free space — when selected, components placed in a schematic are positioned in Layout in the first available empty position. With regards to CPU time, the empty-position algorithm is relatively expensive. Consequently, if the physical layout of the components is irrelevant, placement of components is faster when this option is deactivated.
- Auto position microwave components — when selected, enables the automatic alignment of microwave components placed in the layout. Selected by default.
