Wrapping Geometry in ECAD Xplorer

The Wrap geometry tool can greatly reduce mesh complexity by replacing groups of primitives with an equivalent wrapping polygon. This tool allows you to quickly wrap primitives together and find close geometry based on a Tolerance distance and a starting primitive.

Note:

Compare to Wrapping Geometry in IC Mode.

To wrap several primitives quickly, select the primitives and click Wrap Geometry on the Layout tab. The primitives are wrapped if they are in the Tolerance distance of one another.

To identify and wrap geometry from a starting primitive:

  1. From the Simplify area of the Layout tab, click Settings to open the Geometry Simplification Settings window.

    1. From the Geometry Wrapping area, enter a Tolerance.
    2. Click Apply and Close.
  2. From the Layout tab, click Wrap Geometry to activate the tool.
  3. Click the primitive you want to begin wrapping from. The geometries that are wrapped are highlighted in red.
  4. Right-click anywhere in the design window to bring up the shortcut menu:
    1. Click the Preview check box to see a preview of the wrapping polygon.
    2. Use the slider to increase or decrease the wrapping distance.
  5. Right-click the primitive again and click Wrap to delete the wrapped geometries and replace them with the equivalent wrapping polygon.
