Method of Moments

The Ansys Electronics Desktop (AEDT)TM electronics systems design platform uses the method of moments (MoM) to solve the MPIE and calculate J everywhere on the mesh. The MoM can be broken down into two sections: the basis function and the testing function.

Basis Function

The Desktop uses a zero-order normal element basis function to interpolate the interior current values from values on the edges. Zero-order normal elements have one unknown for each edge in the mesh.

Testing Function

Testing functions are applied to the MPIE to obtain a matrix equation. The matrix equation is used to find J. From J, calculates the S-parameters and the radiated fields. The functions used for the basis functions are also used for the testing functions.
