Loss Tangent

Loss tangent is defined as the ratio of power loss in a dielectric material to the total power transmitted through the dielectric. It is equal to the tangent of the loss angle:

f = frequency of applied voltage

C_p = equivalent parallel capacitance

R_p = equivalent parallel resistance

D = loss angle
