Importing and Exporting the Layer Stackup
PCB/package designs are often based on the same stackup. Stackup file import/export allows you to define the exact parameters (set materials, layer thicknesses, etc.) for a particular stackup once, and have these assignments be reapplied consistently across different designs. The Layer Stackup can be exported as either an SIwave Layer Stackup File (*.stk) or as an Extensible Markup Language (*.xml) file.
Importing the Layer Stackup
To import a Layer Stackup *.stk file into SIwave:
- Click Import > Layer Stackup.
- Select the file you want to open.
- Click Open.
To import a Layer Stackup *.xml file into SIwave:
- Click Import > Layer Stackup XML.
- Select the file you want to open.
- Click Open.
Layer names and layer order in the active design must exactly match those of the stackup file being imported. If discrepancies are detected, no updates will be made.
The only exception is that SIwave can load any layer stack into an empty design.
Exporting the Layer Stackup
To export a Layer Stackup *.stk from SIwave:
- Click Export > Layer Stackup.
- Select the directory and file name under which you want to save the file.
- Click Save.
The Save As window appears.
To export a Layer Stackup *.xml from SIwave:
- Click Export > Layer Stackup XML.
- Select the directory and file name under which you want to save the file.
- Click Save.
The Save As window appears.
