Defining HFSS 3D Layout Advanced Meshing Options

To define HFSS 3D Layout options for simulation:

  1. Click Simulation > HFSS 3D Layout.
  2. The Simulation Setup window appears, with the General tab selected.

  3. Select the Advanced Meshing tab.
  4. Advanced Meshing Tab

  5. Specify the Circle and arc approximation values. Circles and arcs must be replaced with straight edge approximations before meshing. There is no attempt to match areas; points are simply introduced on the original arc at the locations specified by the following parameters.
  6. Enter a value for the Arc setup size. This is the angular interval below which mesh points are added.
  7. Enter a value for the Starting azimuth for circles. This specifies the location of the first mesh point or circles.
  8. Enter a value for the Maximum number of arc points. These are the maximum number of mesh points on a given arc segment.
  9. Select the Use arc to chord error approximation technique for arc if you do not want: the resulting straight edge approximation to deviate from the original arc by more than the specified error.
  10. Enter a value for the Maximum arc to chord error. This is the maximum distance permissible between a straight edge approximation (the chord) and the original arc.
  11. Click OK.
