Validating Designs

Before you run an analysis on a model, it is very important that you first perform a validation check on the design. When you perform a validation check on a design, Maxwell runs a check on all setup details of the active design to verify that the necessary steps have been completed and their parameters are reasonable.

To perform a validation check on the active design:

  1. Click Maxwell 3D or Maxwell 2D, and then select Validation Check. You can also click the Validate button on the Simulation ribbon.
  2. Maxwell checks the project setup, and then the Validation Check window appears.

  3. View the results of the validation check in the Validation Check window.
  4. The following icons can appear next to an item:

Check mark indicates a valid step

    Indicates the step is complete.

    Indicates the step is incomplete.

Yellow triangle with exclamation mark indicates step has issues

Indicates the step may require your attention.

  5. View any messages in the Message Manager window.
  6. If the validation check indicates that a step in your design is incomplete or incorrect, carefully review the setup details for that particular step and revise them as necessary.
  7. Run a validation check after you have revised any setup details for an incomplete or incorrect design step.
  8. Click Close.
