Surface Charge Density

The Surface Charge Density, ρ_s, that is generated on a surface between two materials when solving electric field problems, is given by the following equation:

where

• E₁ is the electric field and e₁ the permittivity in the material on one side of the boundary.
• E₂ is the electric field and e₂ the permittivity in the material on the opposite side of the boundary.
• n in the normal vector of the surface.

To calculate the surface charge, you must first select a surface in the modeling window.
