Background Material Tab

(Maxwell 2D Designs Only)

The area of a model not enclosed within specific objects is termed the background. The material assigned to this area is vacuum by default.

To change the default setting:

  1. Click Maxwell 2D > Design Settings.

    2. The Design Settings window is displayed. You can also view and set design settings by selecting the current design, and then in the Properties window, select the tab for the solver.

  2. Select the Background tab.
  3. Click the Background button listing the current material setting.

    4. The Select Definition window is displayed with the Material Database.

  4. Locate the material desired and click on the Name in the table.
  5. Click OK to return to the Design Settings window.
  6. The Background button will now list the newly selected material indicating that it will be used as the background material.
  7. Click OK to finalize the change and dismiss the window.
