Assigning a Torque Parameter

Note: Torque parameters are available for calculation in the 2D and 3D Magnetostatic, Electrostatic, Eddy Current, and Transient solvers, and for the 3D AC Conduction and 3D Electric Transient solvers.

To solve for a torque parameter:

  1. Select the object on which you want to apply the parameter.
  2. Click Maxwell 2D or Maxwell 3D, and then select Parameters > Assign > Torque. You can also right-click on Parameters in the Project Manager tree, and then select Assign > Torque from the context menu.
  3. The Torque setup window appears.

  4. Type a name for the torque in the Name box.
  5. Select Virtual or Lorentz as the Type for the torque.
  6. Note: For 3D AC Conduction, 3D Transient and Electric Transient solvers, only Virtual torque is calculated.
Note: For the 3D Eddy Current A-F solver, only the Lorentz torque is calculated.
  7. To assign an axis:
    1. Select the axis from the Axis drop-down menu.
    2. Select either the Positive or Negative radio button.
  8. Click OK.
