Adding New Materials to an RMxprt Project

You can add a new material to a project or to the global user-defined material library. To make the new project material available to all projects, you must export the material to a global user-defined material library.

To assign a material to an object:

  1. Click Tools > Edit Libraries > Materials.
  2. In the Project Manager tree, you can also right-click Materials, and select Edit Library.

The Edit Libraries dialog box appears.

  3. Click Add Material.
  4. The View/Edit Material dialog box appears.

  5. Type a name for the new material in the Material Name text box.
  6. In the View/Edit Material for section, select whether this material should be available for the Active Design only, for This Product only or for All Products. The selection makes a difference in the properties displayed.
  7. Note: When you select certain Type or Value options, additional parameters appear beneath some properties in the same way that Magnitude appears beneath Magnetic Coercivity. As necessary, specify values for any additional parameters that appear.
  8. In the Properties of the Material table, specify the Type and the Value for the following material properties, displayed when Active Design is selected:
  9. If you select This Product, additional fields are displayed.

  10. Optionally, change the Units for any of the properties.
  11. Click Validate Material to verify the settings you have specified are valid for the existing properties.
If the material setup is valid, a green check mark appears below the Validate Material button.
  12. Click OK to save the new material.
The Edit Libraries dialog box reappears, with the new material added to the list of materials.
  13. Click OK to close the Edit Libraries dialog box.
