Reporting Sides
When reporting on 2D geometry or boundary conditions or the faces of 3D geometry or boundary conditions, which side (outward normal direction) of the geometry or boundary condition reported depends on the data quantity selected and whether or not the Adjacent side check box in the Setup Calculation dialog box is enabled.
The following table lists which side of a face is reported for 3D object faces, 2D sheet geometry, and a face list with one planar face.
| Quantities | Adjacent Side | Reported Side |
|---|---|---|
| SurfTemperature, SurfVelocity, Surface Ux, Uy, Uz | Disabled | Opposite direction of the face normal. |
| SurfTemperature, SurfVelocity, Surface Ux, Uy, Uz | Enabled | Direction of the face normal. |
| SurfPressure, HeatFlowRate, HeatFlux, RadiationFlux, Heat TransferCoeff | Disabled | Direction of the face normal. |
| SurfPressure, HeatFlowRate, HeatFlux, RadiationFlux, Heat TransferCoeff | Enabled | Opposite direction of the face normal. |
If a face list contains more than one face or only one non-planar face, normal is not applicable and displayed as N/A.
