Snapping Primitives in ECAD Xplorer

In many designs, primitives exist directly above or below each other on adjacent layers. Sometimes these objects are misaligned by a small amount which can increase mesh complexity. Snapping primitives aligns these objects across layers.

To snap primitives within a design:

  1. From the Simplify area of the Layout tab, click Settings to open the Geometry Simplification Settings window.

    1. From the Primitive Snapping area, enter a Tolerance.
    2. To check the snapping action does not violate the connectivity of the original object, click Check Connectivity.
    3. Click Apply and Close.
  2. Select the primitives to be aligned.
  3. Click Snap Primitives.

To align primitives on a specific layer, right-click on a layer in the Layers window and select Snap Primitives.

To align primitives on all visible layers, right-click on a layer in the Layers window and select Snap Primitives On Visible Layers.
