When two or more objects in the Layout Editor overlap (i.e., are selectable on the same location) click the location and type “b” to cycle through the selectable objects. (Alternatively, click Cycle Selection on the Edit drop-down menu.) This highlights each object as it is selectable and allows you to select from objects that overlap.
